Why in News?
Recently, the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC) formally launched Bihar Integrated Manufacturing City Gaya Limited (BIMCGL) at Bodh Gaya. The event also marked the curtain raiser of Bihar Business Connect 2027.
During the event, 12 MoUs were signed for approximately 300 acres of industrial land at Integrated Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) Gaya, representing proposed investments of ₹4,200 crore and an estimated 16,095 employment opportunities.
What Is BIMCGL?
BIMCGL is the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) responsible for implementing IMC Gaya under the Amritsar–Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC), part of the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP).
It is a joint venture between the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) and the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT), with equal equity participation.
Major Industrial Sectors
IMC Gaya will focus on agro-based industries, textiles and garments, furniture, handicrafts, handloom, engineering, and fabrication. The latest investment proposals also cover food processing, automobile components, medicinal products, and pharmaceuticals.
The cluster will provide integrated infrastructure, including roads, water supply, power distribution, wastewater treatment, and fire safety facilities.
Significance for Bihar
The project aims to attract domestic and international investors, strengthen manufacturing, support MSMEs, and generate employment.
It can also promote local entrepreneurship and improve industrial development in eastern India.
The launch of BIMCGL and the investor outreach under Bihar Business Connect 2027 reflect efforts to position Bihar as an emerging manufacturing destination.
